He will be responsible for supervising news coverage in Pakistan and Afghanistan.   Jean-Luc Bardet, deputy editor-in-chief from 2008 to 2012, took over as Brussels bureau chief on June 18. He is 49 years old.

Philip Chetwynd, 43, AFP’s editor-in-chief for the Asia-Pacific region, is appointed Central Editor-in-Chief to replace Florence Biedermann, who takes over as Director of the Europe/Africa region. He will take up his duties on October 1.
